Picked up on this profile of the author of Getting Things Done at boingboing and tracked it back to the Wired article, A Guide to Getting Things Done.
According to David Allen, the author of GTD, “our productivity is directly proportional to our ability to relax; only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve results and unleash our creative potential.”
David’s enlightenment path through martial arts led to personal-growth consultancy. He teaches others how to simplify thought and increase efficiency by achieving “mind like water.” Known as “the personal productivity guru” Allen offers a simple system to get organized, and freeing your mind for greater pursuits.
For example, download all of the “got to do’s” clogging up your thoughts so you can focus on the task at hand. Jot them down on paper, or in your notebook, organize them and prioritize them. Set goals, clear clutter, stay focused.
The Two-Minute Rule: If there’s anything you absolutely must do that you can do right now in two minutes or less, then do it and free up your time and mind tenfold over the long term.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Instead of meditating while you wait for a plane, you should unsheathe that high-tech saber known as the cell phone and attack that list of calls you need to return.
Similarities between Allen’s organizational process and B2B process automation through business community management abound. Both provide ingenious yet easy to use actionable intelligence to boost productivity and gain competitive advantage.
The Bottom Line: Being a Productivity Freak, how could I not recommend this book?
