Our customer service team notifies us that its National Customer Service Week. As a previous post explains we are going to talk a lot this week about good customer service.

We also like good stories and we like to celebrate. Please tell us in your comments your BEST customer service story (does not have to be Inovis related) and the BEST winner (decided by me of course) :)  will win a dinner for two at their favorite restaurant.  Usual disclaimers apply.

Jason at Spend Matters talks about supplier relationships. Dissecting a Supplier Performance / Quality Breakdown.

Worth a read. The key we have found (working with many hubs) rings true with some of the points Jason makes:

1. You get what you invest in supplier relationships. The Japanese manufacturers are famous for their close ties with suppliers (sometimes treating them as extended family).

2. Putting systems and visibility in place helps, but the key is in the supply chain, you are only as good as your operational metrics. Measuring the right things matters more than just getting any dashboad.

3. As BuyerAnalytics points out,  dont focus on cost alone. Service, quality and timeliness of delivery matter more in commodity items as they do in big ticket items. Realize as the diagram shows below cost is but one element of 10 steps in your process.
