A few months ago, my fellow team members and I embarked on a journey to bring Inovis’ Educational Services to our customers. Four events, 150 customers, and one snow storm later, we’re back home and ready to start planning our second tour. Here’s a recap of each event.
Chatting in Chicago: Considering that our Chicago event was our very first Roadshow in the history of Inovis, I’m pretty pleased with the results. One of our biggest goals with this tour was to maintain (and hopefully strengthen) our close ties and communication with our customers. Judging from the feedback of our attendees, they were excited to communicate with us as well. Most customers commented that the Panel discussion was their favorite part of the entire occasion. Customers were able to not only ask questions, but also give their two cents on services and solutions to Experts on the subjects. Members of the support staff were in attendance and happy to hear both compliments and suggestions. It was nice to be able to come to our customers and learn about their experiences with Inovis.
Stopping in Seattle: After receiving some feedback from our Chicago customers, we were ready to make a few tweaks. A few of the guests back in the Windy City had requested demonstrations of various products to see the design and the basics of navigating around various solutions. We added the product demos to the schedule at the end of the day, and I was happy to hear customers say they found this add-on to be worthwhile. In addition to experimenting with our offerings, we also continued to keep the line of communication open with our customers. Vicki Sewell, the Senior Vice President of Customer Implementation and Support, was at this particular gathering and was very attentive to the dialogue that occurred during the panel discussion. At lunch, she sought out customers that had spoken up about an opinion or asked a question, and followed up with them to learn more from them or answer any other questions they may have had. We once again received valuable feedback, and looked ahead at our L.A. destination with determination and dedication to our mission.
Landing in L.A.: Our next stop was in the sunny state of California. I don’t know whether it was because of the weather or because of word of mouth, but more people turned out for this event than for any other Roadshow (52 to be exact). This time, we were pleasantly taken aback by the strong peer interaction occurring throughout each day. At lunch, many customers discovered the individuals seated at the table with them were partners they had been working with for years. In classes, participants asked and answered each other’s questions. Knowledge transfer, networking, and group solidarity were all of the ingredients that made this Roadshow so fulfilling.
Feelin’ it in Philly: Philadelphia was our final destination and – dare I say it – probably our coldest destination. While the weather outside was frightful, training sessions continued to be delightful. One of the biggest lessons we learned throughout our tour was our need to be flexible. Many customers arrived and mingled, and through their discourse with others, realized they wished to take a different training course instead of the one they had originally enrolled in. We adapted with their needs, and adjusted our class lists with each adjusted preference. We also made sure to provide training classes on a variety of subjects and products to cater to the beginners, intermediate users, and experts. We were approached by many attendees about offering full courses during our next Roadshows. We appreciate the input, and are definitely considering this option as we plan our future tour.
Spring in Our Step: We are currently planning for our next series of Inovis Roadshows and brainstorming about what elements to keep, what elements to tweak, and what additional features we might tack on to our original format. We plan to hit the road again in the spring, and will definitely have to visit New York. Many customers traveled from New Jersey and New York to attend the Philadelphia show, and it’s our turn to come to them. And besides, we love New York! While some decisions are set in stone, others have yet to be decided. Do you have any suggestions or requests? Drop me a line at Robert.Cannon@inovis.com or blogs@inovis.com. I’d love to hear from you!

As an attendee of the LA Roadshow, I must applaud Inovis on a great event…. it takes the concept of a conference and makes it better – because we not only can get introduced to new ideas and concepts, but we can also learn more about existing products we use!
Great job, Inovis!!!
