Actionable Intelligence. You may have seen this term used on the BetweenMarkets site pre-acquisition, on the Inovis website since the acquisition, or on technology related websites. Actionable Intelligence is not a new term, but is widely used with a core meaning.
In military use, Actionable Intelligence means providing commanders and soldiers a high level of situational understanding, delivered with speed, accuracy and timeliness, in order to conduct successful operations. Essentially, this means having a good up to date understanding of your objective and the situation prior to action.
According to PC Magazine, Actionable Intelligence is “having the necessary information immediately available in order to deal with the situation at hand.” This is where Actionable Intelligence (AI) fits in the supply chain and logistics world. In the supply chain, AI can help improve the quality and efficiency of business processes. Think of it as your supply chain running through a microscope.

Actionable Intelligence solutions help both retailers and suppliers improve the quality and management of shared business processes. As a retailer, with an AI solution you can organize deductions, manage order exceptions and create, monitor and automate your vendor scorecards. For suppliers, an AI solution will help avoid some data error related chargebacks, monitor your own performance with reverse scorecards and test drive updates to trading partner transactions before going live. These solutions give insight where it is needed most and can help companies save wasted money.
By having an Actionable Intelligence solution, companies can gain visibility into supply chain problems as they happen, allowing them to work with their business partners to avoid disruptions, data-related errors and delayed financial cycles.
