What does the grass look like on the other side of the fence? January 29, 2008

Is it green, brown, or nothing but dirt? So, as a follow up to my earlier post “In a VAN down by the river…” I wanted to pose the question to the most important people to service providers—the customers—and get feedback on your implementation experiences with other service providers. I’m curious what the implementation experience is like with other community management providers including VAN, Catalogue, Actionable Intelligence, Webforms Solutions, and Vendor On-Boarding Services. In order to have the healthiest, greenest, fullest lawn possible, you have to nurture it, pull the weeds (which is my least favorite part), add plenty of water and sunlight, and add loads of Miracle Gro. There’s also the option of all those other products that make things flourish for people without green thumbs, much like myself.
So, a few questions…
1. What did you expect vs. what you actually experienced in the overall implementation process?
2. What type of training, documentation, and webinars were provided, and how helpful were they?
3. Were “live” people available to assist and explain step-by-step through the process?
4. How closely were your requirements met or did you have to compromise to make it work?
At the end of the day I want to continue to improve our implementation processes, and in doing so, keep competitors stirring up dust on their side of the fence, scratching their heads asking, “What in the world are they doing to their lawn that I’m not???.” I’m a bit biased, but if you’re on the fence and have to go one way or the other, wouldn’t you rather land in the nicest yard on the block than the neighbors’ half dirt/half rock yard?
I welcome feedback; you may contact me via a blog comment or by email (matthew.pritchett@inovis.com).
