We’ve written about Actionable Intelligence and its significance to supply chains on the Inovis blog a good bit. We believe firmly in owning the data and being smart with the data in a world where Just-in-Time tactics, Cross Docking, chargebacks, and deductions exist.
Apparently we’re not the only ones who see the importance of visibility into your operations. I just came across the coolest article about how Domino’s is using Actionable Intelligence to provide better service. Enter the pizza tracker!
For anyone who has ever ordered a pizza on an empty stomach, you know the importance of a speedy delivery. And who hasn’t looked at the clock and wondered how close that delicious pizza was to arriving? Now you can look to see just where that pizza is. You’ll know when the order is complete, when the pizza has been made, when the pizza is done, and when the pizza is on it’s way. And if you see that the pizza went out for delivery twenty minutes ago and you only live five minutes away, you’ll automatically know it’s time to pick up the phone and call the store because the pizza guy just might be lost. This simple chart will keep many people from losing patience and many pizzas from going cold.

Finally, Supply Chain Visibility anyone can benefit from! That is really cool (and delicious).
Now if this could just go “pizza delivery industry” wide – that would be excellent!
