Sure, XML can be &quot;human readable&quot; - but at what cost....?  Once you throw in all the characters for the open tags and close tags and the DTD and/or schema, and you are adding MAJOR character counts to your transmissions.  All so you can send something that is &quot;human readable&quot;...?   Can&#039;t your end system just generate a human readable report of the data being entered into your system via EDI...?</description>
