In a heated Marketing showdown, Dell announced recently that Dell plans to cut the energy consumption of its laptops and desktops by up to 25 percent between now and 2010 to avoid millions of tons of CO2 emissions. The company openly compared its pledge to HP’s, saying their plan was, “in contrast to Hewlett-Packard’s announcement earlier this year relative to its 2005 offerings. The energy efficiency of Dell OptiPlex desktops has improved nearly 50 percent since 2005, while Latitude laptops have improved 16 percent since 2006.”
Companies fighting over who’s greenest? While directly naming your competitor at times can be trashy, this is one fight I’m not completely opposed to. If only all companies could focus on beeing ‘greener’ than competitors. HP, your move.
