The Inovis Education Services Roadshow in Boston took place July 14 through 16 and was an adventure to say the least! Inovis had firsthand experience with disaster recovery after a small fire broke loose, a water pipe burst, and trainers were delayed in arriving to Boston due to lightning storms in Atlanta…Who would have thought Inovis would end up battling Mother Nature in Boston?
Thanks to our recent event, not only can we say that Inovis is on fire—literally, we can also say that we had yet another great experience with our wonderful customers! Here is a recap of one of our most exciting Roadshows in Inovis history.
- The adventure first began before the trip even started. While the team was scheduled to arrive in Boston on Sunday afternoon so that everything would be ready to go Monday morning, a few members did not quite make it. Strong electrical storms in Atlanta caused Nelson Red, our keynote speaker, to not make it out of Atlanta until late Sunday afternoon and Kay Dietz, a trainer, to fly out late Sunday after being on standby for 5 flights. Robert Cannon and Patricia Deneen were not as lucky. Their flights were canceled and they were rebooked for an early Monday morning flight. They did not arrive in time for the keynote address or the first set of classes on Monday.
- Despite the absence of several trainers, super woman and Inovis event Coordinator Wendy Parker saved the day by assisting the trainers who did arrive on time with setting up the rooms and making sure the keynote was delivered smoothly. The team worked efficiently and easily solved the current crises by combining Robert Cannon’s class on Inovisworks with another class, and substituting Jim Toland, one of the Inovis Solution Consultants, as the instructor for Patricia Deneen’s EDI 101 class.
- Just as the excitement died down and everyone was sure the worst was over, the Inovis team was faced with another challenge: a broken water pipe. The broken water pipe was in Steven Duvoisin’s classroom and flooded the room. Once again, the dilemma was quickly solved as they found another room for Steven’s class to meet.
- And just when you thought nothing else could go wrong, the most exciting event of all occurred: Kay Dietz set her class on fire! During the morning break, Kay and her class left the room and forgot to turn off the projector. A piece of paper that was over the lens left on the projector started smoking, just as Wendy Parker was walking by to smell it. The paper erupted into flames and Wendy threw the flaming paper on the floor to stamp it out, melting the carpet. Luckily, Wendy was able to put the fire out before the sprinkler system went off and the hotel had to be evacuated, but how is that for excitement?
- In the end, all was well. Deb DelFino won the Red Sox tickets that Inovis raffled off and was able to attend the game on the Sunday prior to the first day of the Roadshow that Monday. Boston was a fantastic location, and the hotel was in an ideal spot in the Back Bay area of Boston.
Thanks to all of those who were able to attend! Here’s hoping our next stop in Newport Beach in California will be just as wonderful as Boston—minus the fire, flood, and plane delays! Look for pictures of the Roadshow to be posted soon!
