In response to the increasing necessity to pinch pennies, many companies are centering their money saving strategies around a more efficient supply chain. One significant technique to achieve a greater level of productivity seems to be the green method. By going green, companies are saving the environment, saving energy and saving money in the grand scheme of things.
And considering that all companies can benefit from going green regardless of size, a more eco-friendly approach seems to be the method of choice these days in the supply chain world. A recent article on Ecopreneurist.com entitled Three fresh ways to green you supply chain – better and faster provides a quick and painless guide to a better, faster and simpler supply chain. We would like to take a moment to congratulate one of our valued customers, Macy’s, on their 150th birthday today! Macy’s is and always has been all about the customer.
Rowland Hussey Macy opened his “fancy dry goods store” in lower Manhattan in 1858. Many know Macy’s as the namesake/creators of the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York and as a purveyor of fashion and affordable luxury to customers at over 800 locations. Macy’s is much more than that. In a recent article in AdWeek, Macy’s keys to success as well as their committment to customer service and the community are highlighted.
Macy’s has been a valued customer of Inovis for over 20 years. Inovis wishes Macy’s a Happy 150th Birthday and here’s looking at many more!

The supply chain continues to be an exciting area of interest in light of the current economic climate. I’ve recently attended several conferences in the last 2 weeks: the Council of Supply Chain Management professionals, iNext and the Infor users conference and supply chain was part of each each. Each event highlighted the importance of continued focus on improving supply chain operations as a way to improve business operations and to provide improve competitiveness in the market. The reason for supply chain as a focus centers around improving an organizations ability to streamline operations, reduce costs and mitigate risks for the business in challenging times.
A good portion of the discussion at these conferences centered around the current financial crisis and how supply chain management represents an opportunity to improve an organizations ability to execute in tighter markets by reducing costs, inventory requirements and demand based fulfillment models. At the end of the day, businesses are realizing that they don’t have the same option that individuals have to simply “hunker down” and wait for things to improve. They cannot put their heads in the sand; instead, they need to continue to innovate and invest to emerge stronger from this economic event.
